National Roofing celebrates successful year

National Roofing, the specialist EDPM flat roofing materials supplier, has just celebrated an extremely successful year following its relocation to South Wales. One year on, sales were up 26% over the previous year, a great result in any economic climate, let alone this one.

The company says demand is high in all construction and double glazing sectors and that the trade market is growing too. It attributes this growth to companies taking advantage of the EDPM roofing’s easy installation plus the product’s lifespan of over fifty years. This longevity is particularly valued in a slowing housing market where more and more homeowners are deciding to stay put and consequently want longer lasting products that offer better value for money.

The success of the company must surely be due to its increasing presence in the market plus the support that is offered to customers.

National Roofing’s EDPM is stocked in all branches of its sister company, National Plastics, as well as other nominated stockists. In these stores, the product is available to take away or for same day delivery direct to site. A range of finishing trims, tools and accessories is always on the shelf too, enabling the contractor to complete the EPDM installation and enhance the overall appearance of the finished roof.

As well as trade demonstration mornings to help the trade counters with their sales of EDPM and related products, National Roofing also hold regular installation workshops where installing teams and contractors can learn the basics of EDPM installation or brush up existing skills. The one day workshops are free to attend and held at National Roofing headquarters in Abercarn, South Wales and various National Plastics’ branches throughout the UK. Demand for these workshops has increased steadily throughout the year in line with the increased demand for the product as more and more trade installers discover the benefits of the untapped replacement flat roofing market.

With such success, it would not be surprising if National Roofing rested on their laurels. But nothing could be further from the case, as Chris Reeks, General Manager, explains: “We are constantly researching new product lines to ensure maximum choice and benefit for the installer and homeowner alike, and have added more products in 2008 which have opened up new markets for ourselves and our customers.”

Two such recent products include the Firestone Rubbercover rolls and a self adhesive EPDM gutter lining manufactured by Continental. The Firestone branded Rubbercover is available in 25 feet rolls with four different widths, making pricing smaller roofing jobs quick and easy. The new gutter lining, available in convenient roll sizes, will speed up the lining of new gutters and the waterproofing of existing gutters, including valley and box gutters. It sticks to most surfaces, including metal, lead and bitumen, meaning that existing covering can often be left in place and the EDPM lining simply laid on top. Like the original products in the range, the new products will be available through the network of National Plastics branches across the country.

With such commitment to customers through new products plus ongoing product support, National Roofing looks set to weather the current economic storm in style!
