Press Glass UK Ltd, sister company of Press Glass SA of Poland, announced that it has acquired for an undisclosed sum the UK-based Glass Systems group of companies, said to be the UK’s largest IGU manufacturer at over 50,000 units a week.
The announcement comes exactly a year since the UK operation was established, though a spokesperson for the Polish company told The Glazine it has been delivering IGUs into the UK for some years before.
The family-run Glass Systems Group, with three factories in South Wales and one in Peterborough, produces 35,000 sqm of tempered glass and over 50,000 IGU’s per week, mainly to the trade, domestic, commercial and new-build sectors. The group as a whole includes Glass Systems Ltd, Glass Systems Direct Ltd, Vizor Tempered Glass Ltd and Climate Glass, a conservatory roof division. Its trading area is predominantly across the south of England and Wales.
A statement from Press Glass SA adds that, working with the current directors and management, the Glass Systems Group plans to grow domestic IGU production in the UK to over 65,000 units per week within two years.
Founded in 1991, Press Glass SA supplies processed flat glass products to construction markets of Europe as well as some activity in North America and Asia. Its customers include window frame and door manufacturers, fire screen glaziers, interior fit-out contractors, commercial façade manufacturers and installers. It also supplies high volume single tempered glass to photovoltaic panel manufacturers. Weekly production amounts to over 150,000 IGU’s and 50,000 m2 of single tempered glass.
