Potential challenges in installing a contemporary new glass façade office extension attached to the Grade II listed Meriden Hall near Coventry listed building were solved after consultation by AGC GLASS UK.

The requirement for a reflective green, fully glazed structure to provide additional office accommodation at Meriden Hall was met with AGC’s pyrolytic-coated, solar control Stopsol glass in Classic Green.

Having obtained Listed Building Consent, Hasker Architects worked with the AGC UK team, IGU fabricatorsEuroview Architectural Glass and sub-contractors Bonam & Berry to seek the best product specification for this environmentally sensitive site.

The IG units called for around 1000m2 of 8mm Stopsol Classic Green pos 2 Toughened and HST + 12.8 1.0 low-e laminated glass, all of which were manufactured by Euroview Architectural Glass. The flatness and uniformity of the glazing was thanks to Euroview's Glaston FC500 furnace with iLook Quality Measuring System.

Jeff Scoffham of Hasker Architects said: “Following intensive design and planning in consultation with English Heritage, we were delighted to be awarded this environmentally demanding Listed Building Cat-B, full service contract. The task then was to meet the expectations of both the client and English Heritage, which was achieved with this modern office with a green glass façade.

Daniel Harrendence at Euroview Architectural Glass added: “We worked closely with AGC throughout the contract, from the manufacture of samples for the architects through to production of the IGUs for the project, and are very pleased that all parties involved are delighted with the striking end result.”
