Partners sought for ‘impermeable’ sliding door system
21st June 2016

ROTO is launching its ‘typhoon-tested’ Patio Inowa sliding door and window hardware system into the UK and is seeking partner companies to incorporate the ‘impermeable’ system into their products.

The move was announced at a press presentation last week where Mike Piqeur, General Manager, Western Europe, showed how the mechanism enables an entire sash to be moved inwards to create an unbroken weather seal.

“This has proved to be very popular where it is available in other countries,” he told The Glazine, “We are talking to some large UK companies about using the system in patio doors and windows and we also want to speak to some big housebuilders about the potential for them.”

The closing action, in which the entire sash moves inwards, means the system is able to create an unbroken weather seal around the sash with locking points on all four sides.

Even on a high rise building, it is said to hold firm and remain tightly sealed against driving rain and heavy gusts of wind.

The level of weather sealing also contributes to sound insulation, making it suitable for projects close to roads or airports on which windows and doors need to meet sound reduction targets.

The system allows the manufacturer to specify an appropriate number of locking points for a situation. These can be positioned strategically in accordance with the wind loadings and security needs on a building.

Patio Inowa has been typhoon tested to international requirements and also meets the following European standards for air permeability class 4 (EN 1026 / 12 207) and water tightness class 9A (EN 1027 / 12 208)

It can be used with sash widths 600 - 1500mm, heights 700 - 2500mm and weights up to 120 kg
