Alan returns from global construction debate
21st July 2015

“As much as 30% of hardware for commercial buildings will have to be bespoke made in the future” That was one of the conclusions to emerge from the Zak World of Facades conference in Mumbai, according to COTSWOLD ARCHITECTURAL PRODUCTS National Sales Manager Alan Hartley who was invited to the conference to discuss the future of global construction. Alan attended on behalf of Cotswold and the global hardware giant Caldwell, which owns the Cheltenham based hardware manufacturer.

At the conference Alan took part in a panel debate about what hardware will be required for the next generation of buildings and architecture across the world. He challenged the audience to consider what products will need to be designed and developed to cope with new super-structures; and even heavier curtain walling and facades.

He said on his return: “The conference looked at the current regulations covering the Indian and global construction sector and asked what products we will need to support the next generation of buildings.

“Cotswold was invited along to feed into this debate and give its opinions as we are a global player and big in India. It was rewarding to be able to influence the future of hardware and be in a room with so many influential people and companies.

“One interesting take away was that going forward as much as 30 per cent of hardware for commercial buildings will need to be bespoke made.”

Cotswold currently exports its products to over 50 countries around the world, with recent projects taking place in Australia and Turkey. Since it was acquired by the Caldwell Group in early 2014, the company has embarked on a major investment programme and introduced thousands of new hardware products.
