A Neat Trimfrom Hegla
21st February 2012

Hegla has developed a fully automated, in-line, blade trimming system that offers manufacturers greater accuracy and speed.

This Hegla system is flexible being extremely useful for architectural applications where multi PVB layers are used. Until now problems associated with overlapping PVB could only be addressed by removing the excess by hand on LES size glass, however this is notably time consuming and is totally impractical in relation to Jumbo applications.

Most recently two installations have been successfully integrated at leading manufacturers Village Glass and Dual Seal, with the next project due to be completed in the early summer.

The Hegla PVB trimming system offers a simple, fully automated in line operation which does not effect output and vastly improves positioning accuracy on the cutting table. The glass can be delivered by any automated loading system and trimmed in one movement.

For manufacturers the benefits of PVB devices are considerable due to the front and leading edges of the plate being automatically trimmed of excess PVB. This not only accurately offers the glass to the automatic positioning stops but also the PVB removal improves the transportation of these two edges along the insulating glass line as they rely on the flat bottom edge of the glass to remain on the vertical conveyors.

In relation to Jumbo cutting applications a small inaccuracy at the positioning stops will be greatly magnified over a full sheet of glass. When manufacturing laminated insulating glass the greater the accuracy of cut the easier the assembly of the sealed unit.

For over 35years, Hegla as a company has worked tirelessly to provide the industry with technical solutions that offer major advantages in relation to real-time benefits. The unique fully automatic PVB trimming system has been meticulously designed to provide a significant positive impact on production line efficiency through precision engineering.
