PIONEER TRADING has regained the certification for its green management practices after a year of environmental milestones and energy saving and recycling initiatives.
The Synseal fabricator has regained its ISO14001 certificate for Environmental Management Systems after auditors were shown how the company had stepped up its environmental practices on three different levels.
• In its two Chelmsford factories, Pioneer has increased the thermal insulation of the buildings themselves and introduced significantly more energy-efficient lighting.
• Its working practices have included increased recycling of PVC-U off-cuts, polythene packaging and cardboard packaging.
• For the consumer and the trade customer, the company has reduced the environmental impact with a ‘Signature’ range window capable of achieving A+33 rating with triple glazing and also introduced Synseal’s acclaimed Warmcore energy-efficient aluminium bi-fold doors.
Business Development Manager Mike Whitlam said: “When we already have many environmental products and practices in place, it gets tougher every year to raise the bar to a new standard but with a lot of thought and effort by everyone here, we have done it again and we will aim to go on pushing the limits in the coming year and beyond. Our customers are putting green issues ever higher on their own agenda because they know that is what their customers – the homeowners and commercial clients – are doing, so we are doing our best to reflect that trend in what we do.”
