Second Queen’s award
Warwickshire based façade specialist Alumet has landed the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise for a second time in five years.
The award rewarded the company's efforts in innovation and in particular Alumet's unique ABLE facade System – an off-site manufactured walling solution that can withstand the effects of a bomb-blast, designed to protect the occupants of the building and ultimately to save lives. Alumet has recently completed a £6.2m Ministry of Defence contract using the new system.
Dean Walton, director of Alumet said "To receive this award for a second time is a fantastic honour for the company, we see innovation not just an option but a necessity, and this accolade will certainly help to keep Alumet at the forefront of the construction industry and ensure that we stay ahead of the competition.
“The construction industry is going through a tough time at the moment, so it is good to see a specialist construction company being recognised at the highest level. The Queen's Award will hopefully help to ensure job security and lead to the recruitment of more staff. It should prove to be a massive boost for the local economy".
Alumet's managing director Gary Summers said: “Like many companies we have had to make cuts but it is important that we continue to project the image of the company and get through the recession. The Queen's Award will certainly help to raise Alumet's profile and lift everyone's morale."
