Pledging support for Fire Door Safety Week

Endurance® Doors are pledging their support for Fire Door Safety week, which will take place from the 26th September to 2nd October, 2016, through a number of online and offline channels.

As one of the first solid timber composite doors to successfully achieve a FD30S rating, which covers the fire door and smoke seals, Endurance® are looking to raise further awareness for all composite fire doors, particularly internal garage doors that not only need to meet the important legislative and safety requirement, but are also a security weak spot in many new homes.

Burglars are able to gain access to garages by the simple means of a wire coat hanger in literally seconds. Without any adequately secure internal door, thieves can gain direct access to the home without any external visual evidence. Most notably TV chef Jamie Oliver had his £7million North London home ‘ransacked by thieves’ in such circumstances in October, 2015.

There’s a clear opportunity for composite door sales to be doubled on many of the UK’s new housing estates, where there’s direct access from the garage into the main part of the home. With security the number 1 key driver in composite door sales, the replacement of a front door could be supplemented by a sale of an internal garage door with a fire rating.
