The first energy rated door

Door-Stop has launched the first UK energy rated doors, just two weeks after the BFRC introduced the DER scheme.

Every single Door-Stop door has been registered under the scheme’s criteria. The scheme covers external pedestrian doors, french, folding and sliding glazed doors, in all materials. Door-Stop is the first to provide a Door Energy Rating for any type of door.

“The BFRC is delighted to announce the UK’s first DER ratings in such a short time after the scheme was launched. It’s a remarkable achievement for Door-Stop,” Chris Mayne, general manager of the BFRC said. “We look forward to announcing further manufacturer registrations in the coming months.”

The company’s doors were able to be registered so quickly because of previous work undertaken for each of its composite doors, to help installers prove compliance with the latest Building Regulations. Door-Stop worked with Chiltern Dynamics and the Building Research Establishment (BRE) to produce a U-value certificate for each individual door, available at the point of online order.

“The existing Door-Stop U-value certificates will be replaced with the BFRC’s ‘rainbow’ energy rating label, which is widely recognised by consumers – an even better sales tool for Door-Stop customers,” Mayne said.

“Every Door-Stop door now comes with its own individual DER certificate, a precise and accurate rating for that particular product,” Nick Dutton, managing director for Door-Stop, said. “This should really give our customers an edge, particularly as homeowners are increasingly interested in energy efficient products, prompted by Government initiatives such as the Green Deal.”
