New trade counters

Screwfix is to launch 40 new trade counters over the coming months, bringing the total national network of stores to 215 by the end of January 2012, just six years after the concept was launched.

The accelerated store expansion programme will create 1,000 new jobs around the UK and make the brand even more accessible and convenient.

Screwfix marketing director John Mewett said: “Our expansion follows a successful trial of a new format trade counter designed for smaller, more densely populated urban areas which has proved very popular with customers. This new, smaller format opens up a lot of new locations that would not otherwise have been possible for us, helping us get physically closer to more customers, as well as providing an overall more convenient service for them.”
