Adams Rite has added Assa Abloy’s versatile cam motion door closer to its range.
The new DC840 cam motion closer helps fabricators, supplying to a variety of public and commercial applications, meet with the requirements under The Equality Act and Approved Document M (ADM) of The Building Regulations.
The Assa Abloy concealed closer has a smaller footprint than the DC860, the other Assa Abloy concealed cam motion closer in the Adams Rite range, making it suited to the majority of public and commercial projects and a very popular product across most specifications.
Andy Stolworthy, product manager for Adams Rite, explained: “Increasingly, fabricators are contractually obliged to supply door sets that meet with Equality Act and ADM guidelines – the great thing about the DC860 and now the DC840 from Assa Abloy is their ability to help fabricators achieve this without compromising on aesthetics or functionality.
“However, the DC860 is more of a specialist offering, particularly suited to applications with large heavy doorsets. The new DC840 has a more universal footprint common across all types of applications, opening up a wider market for OEMs.

Tested to BS EN1154, the CE marked cam motion door closer is concealed within the rail of the door when fitted, creating a streamline appearance, popular with modern offices, public sector new builds and retail locations.
Its cam motion design helps to reduce the opening force required at the start of the cycle, the most strenuous part, aiding ease of access. While its variable closing force has an EN 1-4 rating, making it suitable for a diverse range of applications, including doors on fire escape routes.
Suitable for right and left handed doors, increasing its versatility, the DC840 cam motion door closer is supplied in a silver finish, popular across most new developments and refurbishments.
