Bournville Village Trust architects specified REHAU Tritec frames in a cream foiled finish for Bournville House - a new 59 apartment scheme with additional care facilities built at the heart of the new Lightmoor Village development in Telford.
Almost 250 casement windows have now been manufactured and installed by specialist commercial fabricator Graham Holmes Astraseal working on behalf of main contractors Thomas Vale Construction.
Lightmoor Village is a modern 72 hectare urban village jointly developed by Bournville Village Trust (BVT) and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) working closely with the local authority, the Telford & Wreken Council. It draws on the ethos of the original Bournville Village estate in Birmingham and aims to create a sustainable and desirable place to live.
The architecture throughout the 800 homes in the village is deliberately traditional with the aim of linking the new buildings to the surrounding architecture, countryside and heritage. However, all of the properties feature modern sustainable construction and energy efficient solutions including BREEAM Excellent rated PVC-U windows.
REHAU’s commercial sales team worked closely with the architects on the Bournville House project to win the specification for the REHAU 60mm system in cream. This was judged to be the most appropriate solution for the village style setting, whilst also providing the necessary security, energy efficiency and low maintenance.
The cream finish gives a softer overall look compared with standard white PVC-U and the woodgrain foil adds to the traditional styling of the properties.
