Orkney wins first Network Veka ‘Best Installation’ award
Orkney Builders (Contractors) has won the first Network Veka trophy in the new category of ‘Best Installation’.
The winning house was part of a development built by the company near Kirkwall on the island. Originally the showhouse, it is now the home of project manager Stephen Kemp.
Network Veka judges complimented the simplicity of the conservatory and window design saying it shows that “good design need not be elaborate or complicated”.
Stephen was equally impressed as resident. “Throughout the summer, the conservatory doors stay open through to the lounge, giving a fantastic open living area from front to back,” he said. “Then in winter, we have light cast through into the lounge.”
His father, Director Charlie Kemp received the trophy at the organisation’s recent AGM from snooker legend Steve Davis, who works with Network Veka, endorsing its standards and guarantees in members’ advertising.
