Making WERs transparent

Spectus Window Systems has launched a new myth-busting guide to the new Window Energy Ratings (WERs) legislation.

Due for implementation in October 2010, the latest revision of Part L will make compliance with the required minimum energy performance for all new and replacement windows and doors more challenging. Available only through Spectus Window Systems, ‘The Spectus Guide to Window Energy Rating (WER)’ will help its fabricators and installers to understand the process for obtaining an Energy Rating certificate from the British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC).

To make gaining WER ratings even easier, in addition to the guide, Spectus Window Systems is offering its customers the first two WER reports per system for free.

“The new legislation appears to have caused some confusion among fabricators and installers, particularly around how a WER is assessed. For example, the rating of a window system is based on overall performance which considers glass overlap and reinforcing.  It’s not possible to simply purchase an A rated unit,” explained David Oliver, sales and marketing director at Spectus Window Systems.

“It’s paramount for all fabricators and installers not only to be aware of the legislative change, but also to be responsible for ensuring they are compliant. Our guide provides clear, concise advice which will help our customers to avoid unnecessary costs and secure the compliance rating from the BFRC.  By achieving their rating now, fabricators and installers have a significant opportunity to build a competitive advantage and enhance their sales power.”
