Hardwood for Sash TimberSash Timber’s range of windows, doors and conservatories now benefits from the use of Red Grandis, a 100% FSC-Certified hardwood which combines high-grade quality and structural stability with significant cost savings in comparison to similar types of timber. Sash Timber’s supplier, Timbmet, has secured exclusive UK distribution rights for Red Grandis, which is grown from sustainably managed plantations and has been independently tested by Trada Technology. The single-species product has a history of resilient seedling selection leading to a superior consistency in colour, appearance, evenness of grain and workability. Its natural durability against fungi negates the need for anti-fungi preservative treatment. “Sash Timber’s products are already engineered for durability and stability, but the use of Timbmet’s latest exciting product will further enhance their stability as well as bringing aesthetic benefits,” said Sash Timber director, Jason Lee. “Red Grandis is a species of eucalyptus which is grown for 20 years prior to its use as a manufacturing material. Its machining properties and general finishing qualities are excellent. The wood takes a surface coating extremely well – the degree of pigmentation within our high performance coating systems will strongly influence the final appearance and subsequently limit the degree of maintenance required.” 01274 607711
