Pilkington K Glass™ S has achieved a strong sales rate just six months on from launch, with production volumes more than doubling since January. The new product is also receiving positive feedback from customers, benefiting from the enhanced performance the soft-coat extension to Pilkington’s energy-efficient range offers. 

The offline-coated – or soft coat – addition to the Pilkington K Glass™ range matches the best energy-efficiency performance of any other soft-coat product on the market, whilst also proving more robust than alternative options on the market and far easier to process. The new range has been snapped-up by new and an existing customer base alike, with substantial demand following its launch.

RBD Glass Manufacturers have worked with Pilkington for over a decade and from January this year began to stock Pilkington K Glass™ S as standard. The majority of the product used is in domestic sealed units.

Ian Driver, Managing Director of RBD, explained how they have found the new product: “With the new Pilkington K Glass™ S option we now have an easy to handle product. In addition, we are finding the glass is easier to toughen, and the standing process after toughening is one of the longest we have experienced. We’ve found ourselves with far less waste by using Pilkington K Glass™ S and all round it’s a fantastic product that we are really enjoying using.” 
The new range is currently being supplied from Germany and Sweden, with production of Pilkington K Glass™ S scheduled to move to the new UK £36M coating line at Cowley Hill in St Helens from November 2012, enabling the NSG Group to add significant capacity to production, meeting the forecast increases in demand from the UK.
