Green Deal on the GGF Agenda at Party Conferences
18th September 2012

The GGF will be raising Members concerns about Green Deal at all three Party Conferences this Autumn with presentations at the Dods Green Deal Dialogue fringe events in Brighton, Birmingham and Manchester.

The first event “Getting the Best Deal from the Green Deal” takes place at the Liberal Democrats Conference 2012 at The Ambassador Suite, Hilton Metropole Hotel, Brighton, on Tuesday 25th September starting at 8am.

The Federation will be represented by Giles Willson, Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Technical Affairs who will sit on a formidable panel of speakers including;

Chair: Damian Carrington, The Guardian
Speakers:
• Rt Hon Edward Davey MP, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change
• Simon Wright MP
• Neil Pennell, Head of Sustainability & Engineering, Land Securities
• Giles Willson, Deputy Chief Executive and Director for Technical Affairs, Glass and Glazing Federation
• Paul Hicks, Design Manager, Velux

The Dods Green Deal Dialogue has been a process of engagement between a number of partner organisations and the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) around the detail of the Green Deal – how it will impact them and what can be done to ensure its success.

Dialogue partners include the GGF, Land Securities and Velux. As part of the dialogue process, Dods held a business summit and number of roundtable meetings across the UK to help understand the concerns of those who will be responsible for delivering the Green Deal programme. These events were accompanied by a programme of research, carried out through polling, focus groups and interviews. The findings from the research have been fed into the final report which will be launched at Conference.

At the Green Deal Dialogue Party Conference Events the discussion themes will be:

Will small and medium sized businesses be able to take advantage of the Green Deal?
What sort of consumer demand can be expected?
What are the economic and social benefits that could arise from the Green Deal?
What safeguards should be put in place to ensure the scheme is a success?
