IAI Awards now open
18th October 2016

Nominations are now open for the Institute of Architectural Ironmongers (IAI) awards, which will take place next February, and can be made by any member of the IAI or the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) before the deadline of 30 November.

There are four awards available:

The IAI Fellowship Award is given to an individual who has shown a longstanding and ongoing commitment to the IAI over at least 10 years, and who is still actively involved within the industry and Institute. Last year’s award winner was Andy Matthews of Hoppe UK.

The Paul Lewis Award for Customer Service is given to an individual, group or company that has made an outstanding commitment to customer services throughout the year. The award is sponsored by Royde & Tucker, and last year went to Andy Chapman at dorma+kaba.

The GAI Award for Services to the Institute is always awarded to a current IAI member who has made a recent and visible contribution at branch level. Last year’s winner was Debbie Chance of dorma+kaba.

The Promising Ironmonger of the Year award is intended to seek out and acclaim the brightest ironmongers in the early stages of their careers. They could be involved in scheduling, estimating, sales or a combination of them all. The successful nominee should have the charisma and personality to inspire others. The GAI’s top student Isaac Tam of Tung Fat Ho Building Material Ltd in Hong Kong was the highly impressive winner of the last awards.

Mario Del Signore, chairman of the IAI, said: “Over the last year I have spent a lot of time in and around our regional branch network, meeting members throughout the UK and overseas, understanding their issues, representing IAI interests around the GAI Executive table and pushing forward with our primary goal of enhancing the profile of the Registered Architectural Ironmonger.

“I hear lots of great feedback from the membership and know that there is a huge amount of positivity and energy about the work we’re doing to raise standards across the practitioners of our industry. Which is why I love to celebrate the best of the best at our Awards evening following the AGM. It is an opportunity to put outstanding individuals and companies in the spotlight to receive the praise that they deserve for their particular contributions in our sector.”

The IAI Awards are given at a dinner following the Institute’s AGM, an event that also includes CPD opportunities for Institute members and a fascinating Ironmongers’ Village area with new door hardware products on display.
