Team Crystal gallops to second victory on the trot
Team Crystal picked up its fifth trophy of the season when national trade fabricator Crystal Direct recently hosted the annual Crystal Cup Polo Tournament.
The event took place on Sunday August 9 at the prestigious St Albans Polo Club in Hertfordshire. Over 200 guests, which included customers, sponsors and friends, and in excess of 150 spectators enjoyed the fast and nail-biting match finals.
In the grand final, Team Crystal played Argentine team Santa Helena. The game of four chukkas saw Team Crystal take a clear lead in the first two, but was challenged in the third. The score was 8-4 to Team Crystal, making them proud winners of the Crystal Cup for the second year running. Crystal Chairman Martin Randall, professional players Stuart Beetles and Dean Lines, and Lindsay Wiltshere led the victory.
“It was a fantastic day and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone,” said Crystal installer Duncan Wiltshere of Oakwell Builders. “I’ve attended this event every year and as usual the Polo was superb. The day was fantastically organised and well presented in true Crystal style.
“I’ve been with Crystal since its setup in 1990 and I would never consider going anywhere else. Martin is clearly dedicated in his sport but also in business. Crystal puts a lot of effort to ensure its customers have the best choice in product and the best service and has never let us down.”
The Polo tournament is also an opportunity to raise money for charity. This year the charity was ‘Riding for the Disabled’, www.rda.org.uk – dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities, through riding. The event raised £760 for the charity, which as usual Martin promised to double.
