BBA Microgeneration Certification gets UKAS
The BBA has achieved UKAS accreditation for microgeneration products and services.
It is a requirement of the UK’s Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) that certification bodies offering approvals of products and installers hold accreditation by the United Kingdom Accreditation service (UKAS).
“This is an important step in the adoption of safe and reliable microgeneration systems in the UK,” said BBA chief executive Greg Cooper. “We are very proud of our existing UKAS accreditations, some of them held for many years. This newest endorsement reflects the new technologies used in this sector and we look forward to awarding approvals to the better companies and products out there.
“Our accreditation covers all five product technologies covered by the MCS – solar thermal, solar photovoltaic, biomass boilers, heat pumps and wind turbines – and of course we hope that producers will want to go further than the basic MCS Certification, to obtain a full Agrément Certificate for their systems, and providing specifiers and home owners with much more information on the performance of systems, their role within the context of the building to which they are fitted, and their durability.”
