PILKINGTON UK has collaborated with the NBS National BIM Library to make its commercial IGU products and Pilkington Planar structural glazing models available online.
Architects and specifiers using the National BIM Library now have full access to comprehensive product information for Pilkington’s solar control and thermal insulation glass products and structural glazing systems.
Project Specification Manager Jason Eggerton said: “BIM is a government initiative that ensures each building product used within a design is embedded with its own bespoke data. Not only does this make the specification process quicker and easier, it facilitates a fully collaborative approach to construction and can even allow architects to walk clients through a project in a virtual environment before it is built.
“While BIM was initially the domain of government construction projects, we’re now seeing its use increase across the wider construction industry. As the industry evolves it is vital that we keep pace and make Pilkington products BIM-ready. This will not only help our customers to make more informed decisions, but also help them to identify areas for improved efficiencies and cost savings moving forward.”
