Abu Dhabi life-saver
17th October 2017

Queen’s Award-winning window restrictor supplier JACKLOC has gained approval for another year by the authorities in Abu Dhabi, where fatal falls from high-rise buildings are a serious concern.

Following the deaths of many children and adults as a result of such falls, the Chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs in Abu Dhabi, issued a resolution aimed at protecting children from falling from windows and balconies in residential buildings in the Emirates.

Ragunda Sankaran, Director of Fourstars Building Materials LLC said: “After researching window safety products which could help prevent these tragic, needless deaths, I discovered Jackloc. It is an established, well-respected company producing an excellent product – tried, tested and trusted – which is just what I was looking for.”

Along with use in a residential setting, Jackloc’s universal restrictors can be found in office developments, sheltered and university accommodation as well as hotel chains across the world. Jackloc is also used in the healthcare sector with 300 of its restrictors safeguarding patients at the seven-star Burjeel Hospital, the largest private hospital in Abu Dhabi.

Founder and Director, Emma Wells said:“Behind Europe, the Middle East is one of our largest markets, so approval from its leading council on quality and standards is an important endorsement. With the nature of the UAE and their high-rise residential buildings, effective window restrictors are absolutely vital and it’s great to see the council once again place its trust in Jackloc.”

Emma sister and fellow Director Judith Burrows added: “We’re not here just to fill a gap in the market, from day one our mission statement has always been to improve safety on a global scale by dramatically reducing the risk of falls from windows.”
