Anthracite goes to award finals

Anthracite grey foiled windows in REHAU Total70 PVC-U profile helped the beachfront Harbour Green development in Portobello, Edinburgh make it into the final in the Apartment Development of the Year category at this year’s Scottish Home Awards.

More than 300 windows and 100 doors in the 55 apartments were fabricated and installed by Motherwell based commercial specialists Walker Profiles for MNM Developments.

Floor to ceiling windows were chosen for many of the one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments at Portobello, maximising the light in the open plan interiors and giving uninterrupted views for residents across the Firth of Forth. On one side of the four storey development, Walker Profiles also fabricated and installed a series of French doors in Rehau Total70 opening onto balconies, and faceted curved corner windows which give the whole development echoes of art-deco styling.

The Harbour Green development also incorporates two Category B listed brick pottery kilns into its design. These 1906 structures are the only physical remnants of the former potteries which were previously common in Portobello and are a prominent feature within the public landscaped space surrounding the apartments.
