Record attendance at Passivhaus seminar
17th May 2016

REHAU says the success of its most recent Passivhaus seminar is evidence that the demand from across the construction industry for information and advice on this growing sector of the market.

The event held at the Siemens Crystal building in Docklands attracted around 100 delegates, of whom the vast majority were architects and specifiers.

Roger Burton of architectural consultancy Nvirohaus delivered the introductory presentation on the principles of Passivhaus.  Then, Tony Harbour, the head of the Rehau Hub specification centre in the London Building Centre, and Kevin O’Neill, one of Rehau’s Commercial Managers, presented on heating and cooling and thermal efficiency in Passivhaus building, focusing on products such as the Rehau Awadukt Thermo ground – air heat exchanger and the Rehau Polytec 50 curtain walling system.

The Passivhaus Trust were also there to give their backing to the event, and the feedback from those who attended was very positive.

Rehau’s UK Chief Executive Martin Hitchin, who opened the event, said: “We’ve been staging these Passivhaus seminars at stand out locations across the UK for more than a year, and the attendance is growing every time.

“The most recent RIBA Future Trends survey highlighted Passivhaus as an area showing ‘particular potential’ and we’re certainly seeing evidence of that at these seminars, and also through the number of enquiries we’re getting for projects where Passivhaus principles are being applied.”
