Eurocell acquires Merritt Plastics

Eurocell Profiles manufacturer and distributor of pvcu systems, has today announced the acquisition of Merritt Plastics.

Merritt Plastics is a post-consumer pvcu recycling and extrusion company and Recovinyl certified recycler, based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. It has recently invested significantly in new plant and equipment at its 60,000ft2 facility to handle the recycling of pvcu window frames, which would otherwise be sent to landfill sites. Through Recovinyl, Merritt offers incentives to customers who deliver post-consumer frames to its site for recycling.

The acquisition of Merritt Plastics provides Eurocell fabricators and installers with a means of improving their carbon footprint and sustainability credentials, while reducing landfill costs, by recycling the windows they replace.

Patrick Bateman, chief executive officer of Eurocell, said: “This acquisition further strengthens our recycling operations and demonstrates our commitment to helping customers meet their environmental responsibilities. It also complements our recent acquisition of Cavalok Building Products by supplying materials for its 100% post-consumer waste recycled cavity closer systems.”

Simon Readman, the founder of Merritt Plastics, will remain with the business to guide its future growth. Simon said: “This is an exciting new era for us. We’ve built a successful company and now with the resources of Eurocell behind us, the future for our staff and customers looks better than ever.”
