Another industry first for the Force 8 team, the company claims, are their new composite bi-fold doors which are also the first of many new products from their new Mediterranean range. The new Bi-fold doors combine all the beauty of timber, the simplicity of UPVCu, without any of the drawbacks associated with either. They are also available in a full range of colours, giving a wider choice of options.
The new Mediterranean Bi-fold is bristling with new innovations, from the stainless steel marine grade hardware to the integral blinds. The aluminium cill has a self-sealing system, so there are no unsightly channels on view at any time to get clogged with dirt or debris. The doors run on specially designed stainless steel track, and the wheels are designed to remove any dust or dirt that get through the seal. The doors glide open with the touch of a finger, and to make sure it stays that way, the hardware has been corrosion tested to over 600 hours.
Composite materials have made great strides in recent years in enhancing the security of homes, this is based a great deal on the unprecedented strength to weight ratios achieved by composites in comparison with traditional door materials. The Mediterranean Bi-fold also comes with high performance seals, low E thermally efficient glass, and a full 10-year warranty for peace of mind.
“We have been asked about internal blinds for Bi-folds many times, but the cost implication were quite high”, comments Dennis Sumner, managing director of Force 8. “The new Mediterranean Bi-fold has overcome this problem by fitting integral blinds inside the double glazed units, which gives them the additional benefit of never having to be cleaned or gathering dust as ordinary blinds do. The discreet control mechanism is conveniently located on the side upright and is easy to use”.
All the doors are designed for outward opening with and can be adjusted by up to 10mm vertically or horizontally (ideal where settlement has accrued), standard height of 2120mm, and any width of opening can be catered for. As with all Force 8 products, security is always at a very high standard, and the new Bi-folds are no different with 5 point locking system fitted to the master door, and stainless steel drop bolts on the folding doors (with locking key if required). The all the new hardware has been tested with up to 50,000 openings and closing actions, and has only been used before on heavy-duty doors. The master door even has a magnetic door stop, so when the doors are open, the master door is firmly held in place.
Force 8 are offering discounts for early customers with good photographic locations, as they are preparing a new catalogue and require some good quality installation pictures.
“Force 8 have pioneered much of what the industry takes as standard now, and the new composite bi-fold is one of the most exciting”, comments Dennis. “All this is backed by over 20 years experience from an established family run business, and within that time Force 8 have been listening, and meeting the needs of both the commercial and the residential sector”.
