Test centre accreditation
17th January 2012

The Mila Test Centre in Daventry has added two further British Standards to its testing schedule and can now offer customers both neutral salt spraying testing to BS EN1670:2007 and weathertightness testing to: BS 6375-1:2009.

This is as a result of recent UKAS accreditation of the new salt spray chamber at the test centre and the weather performance test rig.

Adrian Hastings, test centre manager at Mila, said: “Customers can now book salt spray or weathertightness testing at Mila and enjoy all the benefits of our refurbished facilities, our customer friendly booking system and our prompt and efficient service, with the reassurance that all the tests are fully UKAS accredited.

“Alongside our existing UKAS accredited tests to PAS23, PAS24 and BS7950, this enables us to offer customers a complete package of performance and security testing.”

The BS EN 1670:2007 Neutral Salt Spray Test assesses the corrosion resistance grading of hardware from Grade 1 to Grade 5, with 1 offering no defined corrosion resistance and Grade 5 offering exceptionally high corrosion resistance at 480 hours exposure.

At the Mila Test Centre, hardware is placed inside the new salt spray chamber and exposed to a controlled environment with a high moisture and salt content.

Similarly, BS 6375-1: 2009 grades external windows and doorsets for air permeability, watertightness and wind resistance.

“We will of course continue to offer indicative testing to all these standards but now we can offer formal UKAS accredited testing as well which is great news for our customers,” Adrian said.
