Advanced approach changes the face of One St. Paul’s Churchyard
17th February 2015

A unique modular new build project has been completed using ISO-Chemie’s ISO-TOP Flex Tape to provide improved airtight sealing of internal joints.

Schoolmasters is a low energy pre-fab house which was built in several sections in a south coast of England factory before be transported 600 miles to Aberdeen, Scotland.

There, the six sections and the pre-formed roof cassettes were re-assembled in one day before contractors completed the whole project over the subsequent months with the installation of 5.5Kw solar panels, timber cladding and a biomass pellet stove.

The 195 sq. m, four bedroomed single storey scheme has been built to Passivhaus standards by sustainable buildings specialist Build Different to showcase how modern methods of construction, combined with hybrid factory-based solutions, can provide comfortable, energy efficient homes.

ISO-TOP Flex-Tape is a highly flexible LDPE tape, that’s been specified to provide a fast and effective airtight sealing for the wall and ceiling joints. As well as overlap joints, it bonds the ends of vapour barrier membranes securely to construction materials including wood and masonry and can be applied to a variety of finishes including metal, plastic, fleece or paper.

The tape also offers an easy-to-apply ‘fit and forget’ high performance solution and compliance with the requirements of DIN 4108-7 for wind tight connections.

Stuart Duncan of Build Different said: “ISO Chemie’s tape’s a great, highly versatile product that’s provides the high levels of air tightness qualities required for ground-breaking, low energy projects like this one.”
