CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY TRAINING BOARD JOINS THE BUILD SHOW AS EVENT PARTNER
16th September 2014

As contractors across the UK continue to gear up for increased growth, the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has joined the Build Show as an Event Partner – bringing its significant expertise to the show’s programme of training and skills-focused seminar content.

Founded to support training and skills in the construction industry, the CITB takes a lead role in developing training strategy and influencing supply and funding for the whole construction sector. As part of this, the board works closely with governments, employers and training bodies in a variety of capacities – providing advice, financial support and research, as well as delivering specialist training facilities and services.

With skills shortages and the availability of labour posing serious challenges across all levels of the construction industry, training and workforce development is high on the agenda at the Build Show. The CITB will play a pivotal role in helping the show develop and refine its seminar programme, lending its considerable insight and authority to the variety of workshops, policy discussions and debates taking place throughout the three-day event.

Helga Clarke, Strategy and Delivery Manager at the CITB, commented: “We are delighted to give our backing to the Build Show, as we really feel that the time is ripe for an event like this – one that focuses specifically on the needs of the contracting sector. The industry is undergoing such a rapid pace of growth that its vital contractors receive the right support and networking opportunities to ensure they are able to meet demand. The show will provide the perfect space to deliver this and we look forward to working with the event organisers to ensure the content really hits the mark."

Paul Godwin, Managing Director of the Build Show, commented: “Having the CITB on board will provide a significant boost to our content planning. We know from previous research we’ve conducted with the contracting sector that skills shortages are a major area of concern for the industry and there is a thirst for high-level support and information. The CITB will add valuable insight to our programme development and will ensure we deliver exactly the sort of guidance and network connections our visitors are looking to find.”
