PRIME TV SLOT FOR HURST COMPOSITE DOOR
16th September 2014

A bold red composite door from Hurst Plastics has been used to make a stunning entranceway on a property which features in a major home renovation TV series.

In the brand new series ‘The 100k House: Tricks of the Trade’ which airs on BBC Two on Tuesdays at 8pm, property experts Kieran Long and Piers Taylor help owners on very tight budgets to transform their unsuitable properties into dream homes.

Couple Ronnie and Nicky Smith bought their 1950s bungalow in High Wycombe three years ago, but the layout was impractical for family living. With a modest £49,000 renovation budget and the expertise of TV architect Piers Taylor, the couple have used imaginative design solutions to overhaul their property and create a fantastic family home for themselves and their two young children.

As part of the ambitious project, the couple moved the front door to the side of the property and fitted the contemporary Bohemia Eclipse composite door from Hurst Plastics. The door, features Hurst’s ‘Brilliance’ decorative glass and architectural hardware to make a bold, modern statement.

Homeowner Ronnie Smith said: “This has been an exhausting project but we are really proud of the end result. We never dreamed this house could look so good. We now have a beautiful and practical four bed family home with plenty of space for the children. And the Hurst composite door provided the perfect finishing touch. It’s the first thing people notice when they arrive and we’ve had some really positive comments about how great it looks. The design of the door looks like a giant smile, so we call it the ‘happy door’ - it’s a very fitting nickname after such a huge renovation!’”
