Administrators in at Sash UK

Sash UK, one of the UK’s oldest PVC-U fabricators and a major Veka customer, is in the hands of administrators, it was confirmed today after widespread rumours that the Barnsley-based company was in difficulties.

Phone calls and emails to the company were not being answered today but it is understood that insolvency practitioners Duff & Phelps were called in some days ago and a formal announcement may be expected soon. Staff have also been notified by letter.

Sash UK was one of the pioneers of PVC-U in the UK, growing out of a small carpentry business, Bean & Morrell founded in 1965 to its present form with its 112,000sqft factory and manufacturing base in Grimethorpe, under new owners who acquired the business in 2016.

The company was one of the first fabricators to take up Veka and had been on the system right up to the present day. It is understood to be the company referred to by Veka’s Dave Jones in today’s statement on the manufacturer’s possible redundancies. Read Story
