Yorkshire fabricator QUICKSLIDE is training its staff to be problem solvers with a series of performance and improvement courses via its Quickslide Academy training programme.
Over 70% of its workforce are taking part in various courses with the aim of reducing variations in shop floor and office processes, minimising waste and improving quality.
Operations Director Michael Connor explained: “When we say our people are our most valuable asset, we mean it and we back that up by investing in them. We are giving our employees the tools and techniques to empower them to improve efficiency.
“We want 100 problem solvers throughout the business, not just two or three at the top.”
Some candidates have begun the 12-month BIT (Business Improvement Techniques) Lean Manufacturing Apprenticeships and others the four-month NVQ Level 2 PMO (Performing Manufacturing Operations). Quickslide is also putting 60 operators through a manual handling training refresher as part of its continuous improvement on safety.
