SHAPING UP WITH GROWTH
16th December 2014

For Universal Arches, the last two years have been ones of incredible growth and the recent purchase of their premises in St Helens and plans to invest a further £250,000 during 2015, will help support this.

Over the last decade, Universal Arches have become a true leader in the bending sector, by size, length of time in business and their new production and operational methodologies. They have pioneered the use of 3D computer modelling, helped to eliminate the use of hand made templates in 76% of jobs, implemented a new direct collect and delivery service and launched fully glazed and coloured frames.

Universal Arches are currently manufacturing 65 hand made frames per day, which will take sales to in excess of £2million in their current trading year, this equating to an estimated 65% market share. While lead times may have had to be extended in a fair and openly manner due to market demands, in 2015 the £250,000 investment will help address this and ensure that they are brought down to their usual standard of 7-10 days.

Across the industry companies have got caught a cold to a degree, as consumer spending on home improvement products has increased significantly and this is affecting companies throughout the supply chain. Numerous installation companies are already reporting a 3-month order book, before any consideration of bad weather hampering fitting schedules. The prospects for 2015 look strong across the board in the glass and glazing industry, with companies also committing to further growth.

Leon Day, managing director of Universal Arches comments: ‘Without question our pedigree and finished product is the envy of the bending sector and market demand has seen our sales nearly double in the last 2 years. For 2015, our investment plans will help bring down our lead-times and make us more efficient within the confines of our ISO 9001:2008 certification.’
