Euroglaze supplies acoustic windows for new build apartments

REHAU trade fabricator Euroglaze has supplied more than 100 casement windows and French doors in the REHAU S706 system for installation in a new build apartment development in Normanton, West Yorkshire.

Barnsley-based Euroglaze fabricated the windows for long standing customer Savills Glass which was awarded the contract by Cyrus Developments.

Cyrus chose Savills because of the quality of the Euroglaze windows it had supplied on previous similar projects and because Euroglaze and Savills together recommended a specification for the windows which would meet the 38dB acoustic performance requirements laid down by the planning authorities.

The apartments are near a busy road so acoustic performance was a long term consideration not only for the planners but also for the developer who is aiming the apartments at the booming rental market.

Working closely with Euroglaze, Savills recommended argon filled sealed units manufactured by AWJ Glass in Scarborough with 10mm float toughened glass on the outer face, a 12mm super spacer and 6.4mm softcoat laminated glass on the inner face. In REHAU S706 frames, these windows were installed throughout the ground floor of the development and on the elevation facing out to the road.

Julian Savill of Savill’s Glass was delighted with the support he received from Euroglaze in completing the contract. He said: “Euroglaze helped us to identify the right specification for the windows and then sourced new high performance Trojan hinges which could match the weight of the sealed units. They identified the supplier for us and even undertook the training necessary to fit the hinges correctly.

“They also recommended appropriate acoustic vents for use in all of the habitable rooms apart from kitchens and bathrooms and really lived up to their promise of going the extra mile for their customers.”

The apartments also feature a series of French doors in the REHAU S706 system opening onto Juliet balconies.
