Lords resume on housing crisis
15th September 2015
“We are not building half the houses we need” …“The industry is doing all it can to solve the problem” … “We need to bring SME housebuilders back into the picture.”
There were some of the many poignant observations when the House of Lords Select Committee in National Policy for the Built Environment resumed this week to tackle the question: “Why are so many house building targets missed?”
Witnesses in this session were:
Dame Kate Barker, economist, author of the Barker Review of UK Housing Supply
Toby Lloyd, Policy Director at Shelter
Lord Best, former Chief Executive of the National Housing Federation
Kathleen Kelly, Assistant Director of Policy and Research at the National Housing Federation.
