New chair for alliance
The Property Industry Alliance has announced that Sir Robert Finch is to succeed Sir David Clementi as its chairman.
The Property Industry Alliance was set up in 2006 as a mechanism for improving co-ordination and fostering co-operation between leading property bodies. Its members are the British Council for Offices, the British Council of Shopping Centres, the British Property Federation, the Investment Property Forum and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
The new Chairman, Sir Robert Finch, who takes over on 1 March, was Lord Mayor of London from 2003-04. After more than 30 years as a partner at Linklaters (including a spell as head of real estate) he chaired Liberty International from 2005-08. He is currently chairman of the Mall Fund, a nominated member of the Council of Lloyds of London and Chairman of the Royal Brompton and Harefield Foundation Trust.
A range of pan-industry groups meet under the auspices of the PIA Board to co-ordinate work in areas such as sustainability, REITs, property debt, research and occupier satisfaction. Chief executives and the chairmen/presidents of member bodies also meet on a regular basis to discuss key industry issues.
Sir David Clementi said: “I have been delighted to chair the PIA for the last four years. Over that time the PIA has established itself as a valued mechanism for bringing together leading players in the industry. This has enabled the industry to present a more united and co-ordinated front both to government and other external audiences. It has also helped to ensure that the resources available within the industry have been used as efficiently as possible.”
