Student choice
ISO-Chemie’s impregnated expanding foam tapes ISO-Bloco 600 and ISO-Bloco T-Max have been used to provide high performance weather seals at Leeds Metropolitan University’s new student accommodation.
The foam tape has been fitted to more than 300 powder coated aluminium windows installed at the purpose-built scheme of flats and townhouses on the Headingley Campus, which provide easy-access to university facilities, local shops and bars.
ISO-Bloco 600 was specified for its high performance and reliability while offering a cost-effective primary weather seal for the installation process – it provides wind driven rain resistance against violent storm force conditions (11 on the Beaufort scale), as a guaranteed minimum.
ISO-Bloco T-Max was specified for the larger differential movement on four storey timber frame buildings. It can accommodate movement of up to 36mm and wind-driven rain resistance against storm force, or more depending on the compression cycle.
Incorporating fire resistant qualities, the versatile ISO-Bloco 600 and T-Max ranges can be widely used to provide simple, quick and effective gap seals to accommodate expansion and movement as well as for weather tightness, plus thermal and acoustic insulation, while still remaining permeable to trapped water and water vapour – similar to a flexible breathable style material for the building facade.
Quick and easy-to-apply, the self-adhesive ISO-Bloco 600 tapes can be used to seal joints ranging in width from 1mm to 42mm, while the ISO-Bloco T-Max can cover joints of 14mm to 50 mm with a single tape size.
Product can accommodate a temperature range of -30°C to +90°C and is impermeable to driving rain making them some of the best performing tapes in their class.
