Vaccinations against breakdowns

With various exotic bugs and viruses floating around the atmosphere adding to the woes brought on by the recession, Elumatec is offering ‘vaccinations’ to ensure window fabrication machinery isn’t stricken by any of the ills that can afflict expensive kit if it is neglected.

The past year has been the toughest that most fabricators have had to face since they began in business. The temptation is to make a cut too far and skimp on machinery servicing and support, something that might keep the accountant happy with the forecasts but which may have disastrous implications for production and costs for emergency breakdowns.

“It is the classic false economy,” said Phil Heavey, managing director of Elumatec UK. “Of course we can charge more money when machines break down completely but it is not in our interest for them to do so. And the ‘jab’ doesn’t hurt a bit,” he added.
