Journey to C
Edgetech has announced plans for a nationwide series of free workshops branded ‘Journey to C’ to help the industry achieve a C rating in time for the proposed Building Regulations, due to come into force in October 2010.
Edgetech managing director, Andy Jones, explained: “Proposed Building Regulations require all replacement windows to have a C rating or above. This isn't as easy as it sounds and is especially daunting for the window companies that don’t yet have a Window Energy Rating and don’t know how to go about getting one.
“Edgetech recognises this is a daunting prospect for the industry, and even more so for those that don’t yet have an energy rating. We also appreciate that there are plenty of companies that don’t know where to start to get an energy rating or what the process involves. We’re showing our support by hosting a series of free workshops across the UK and Ireland.”
Window Fabricators and Installers who pre-register and attend the regional events will leave with:
Window simulation reports by BFRC certified simulators
System air leakage reports
Letters of permission from the report owners allowing the fabricator or installer to use these reports for their WER application
Factory process control system template
Introduction to appropriate accredited IG provider
Diary date for discounted IA audit
Alan Fielder, director of sales and marketing at Edgetech added: “In short we’re offering Window Energy Ratings in a box, which will hopefully be everything window companies need to succeed in 2010 and for the foreseeable future. The workshops will be held across the UK and Ireland in the following venues: Belfast Waterfront on 9th March; The Guinness Storehouse in Dublin on 11th March; Newcastle Football Club on 16th March; Lancashire County Cricket Club on 18th March; Coombe Abbey in Coventry on 25th March; Lords on 31st March; At Bristol 9th April; and the Eden Project in St Austell on 14th April.
“The proposals for Scotland are even more stringent with a Window Energy Rating of B or a window U-value of 1.5Wm2K so fabricators and installers in Scotland have an opportunity to attend the Edgetech ‘Being There’ workshop at the Murrayfield rugby stadium on 3rd March.”
