Glass cricket bat extends the boundaries
A glass cricket bat that could never face up to a googly or be used in a match has just gone up for auction and raised £1,000, and really extended the boundaries of what can be produced in glass!
When Howard Evans from Kingfisher Graphics in Bredbury approached Wayne Deasey at Cheadle Glass in Stockport to produce a trophy to be presented to Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff and then auctioned, Wayne decided to get really creative with glass!
The two companies created a stunning larger than life glass cricket bat which was signed by Freddie Flintoff and featured his photograph digitally printed onto the glass by Kingfisher Graphics. The bat was created by Cheadle Glass with 19mm low iron glass which was optically clear with pencil polished edges using CAD design technology and worked on their CNC machine.
Wayne said: “We are always keen to see just what we can achieve with glass, it is a really versatile material and we enjoy creating something which is unique. One of the latest innovations is to print images directly onto glass as we did on the bat, but we are now able to print huge images onto glass and these are proving really popular as wall art.
