The world’s biggest arched window (probably) job shortlisted
14th October 2014

Forward thinking trade fabricator Dempsey Dyer, frame bending specialists Universal Arches and arguably one of the largest arched window jobs ever has been shortlisted for Commercial Project of the Year at the G-14 Awards.

The £8.75 million project, which involved the replacement of some 655 arched head PVC-u windows at an old Victorian mill in Leicester, is believed to be one of the largest ever of its kind. The windows were manufactured by Dempsey Dyer and Universal Arches and installed over a carefully co-ordinated 12 month time period. Because of the complexity of the project, both Dempsey and Universal worked closely with architect G+P and the local Planning Department of Leicester City Council to ensure the installation was a complete success.

This is the second award Dempsey Dyer has been shortlisted for in recent times – the company was presented with an accolade from the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) for their commitment to lean manufacturing – but it is the first time they have been a G-Award finalist.

Peter Dyer comments: “The G-Awards are one of the highlights in the industry calendar so it’s a real honour for Dempsey Dyer to be among the shortlisted companies. The scale of the Old Mill project was pretty staggering – it’s the biggest arched head window job I’ve ever been aware of – and it was great to be involved. Being nominated for a G-Award is the icing on the cake, everyone at Dempsey Dyer is very proud.”

The Dempsey Dyer brand is going to be very visible during the awards ceremony, which is held at the Hilton Hotel on Park Lane, London, on Friday 21st November. As well as being shortlisted for Commercial Project of the Year, Dempsey Dyer are sponsoring the coveted trophies, giving the fabricator extra brand exposure.

“We’re really looking forward to the night and we would like to wish the other shortlisted companies the best of luck” Peter concluded.
