GGF warns of ‘scrappage’ scam
14th July 2015

The GGF is alerting mainstream media and other authorities to a ‘scrappage’ scam by fraudsters who claim that the organisation is offering money back on old windows being replaced under the Green deal and ECO.

The scam has been reported to the organisation by two separate sources, a GGF member and a Trading Standards Officer* and now Chief Executive Nigel Rees is issuing a statement to newspapers and other media, as well as Trading Standards and Action Fraud, alerting them to the scam and emphasising that the GGF does not either operate or fund any such scheme.

He continued: “We also urge anyone who has been a victim of a scam or has experienced scam callers to report them directly to Action Fraud.”

Nigel Rees, GGF Group Chief Executive commented, “To make the public aware of this scam and to try and prevent homeowners being duped, we will be issuing a statement to the mainstream media, Trading Standards and Action Fraud, stating that; the GGF neither operates nor funds any such scrappage scheme.

The GGF urges anyone to report this or any other frauds in the industry by contacting Action Fraud UK either by phone on 0300 123 2040 or online at http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/

*Stop Press: As The Glazine was about to be published, the GGF told us that another report had just been made on the scappage scam, this time by a consumer contacting the GGF directly.
