Blue skies bring out the grey forgasket demand
14th July 2015

EXTRUDASEAL is reporting record uptake of its RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey gaskets as summer renovation projects push sales of aluminium windows and doors to spike.

Managing director, Chris Byers, said: “This year, the warm spell has arrived with an even greater surge in demand for aluminium, bi-folding doors in particular, and our customers are extremely busy supplying installers with the volumes they need, which has had a strong influence on our own output of gaskets, especially the RAL 7016.”

Grey is arguably the most popular colour for windows and doors in the residential sector, which has been strongly influenced by modern architectural trends, as well as the commercial market, where the traditional white is almost never the preferred choice.

Chris added: “The times when homeowners could have any colour window or door as long as it was white are long gone. Now fabricators are investing in expensive powder coating facilities, helping their customers to be more appealing to the end consumer thanks to unlimited choice.”

The rubber seals are extruded in either Thermo Plastic Elastomers (TPE/TPR), or Poly Vinyl Chloride Nitrile (PVC) from British suppliers. UV stable, the rubber seal may also be produced with an anti-stretch polypropylene cord.
