Weekly Email News for the Glass, Glazing & Fenestration Industries

It’s 10/10 for 10 HR
14th February 2012

Formed in 2002 Ten Human Resources are celebrating their tenth year in business.

Dedicated to the needs of the Fenestration and associated industries the company has seen significant change over the last decade with almost constant changing market conditions.

Owner Bill Pratt says,”It has been very evident that as the market has got tougher, the quality of personnel has had to improve, however there are still many companies trying to buy business on the back of the previous successes of a lot of individuals. The expectation of an individual’s past success, in the main, is not reflective of the current market and therefore somewhat unfair. Unless of course you simply want to buy business, and it is easy to do that”.

He continues,”It was not hard to see that market conditions were changing a number of years ago and that if you did not change to accommodate this then you were likely to fail.

The smarter operators have changed and are thriving.

Whether they are privately owned or part of a group it has been recognised that some harsh but difficult decisions have had to be made in relation to cutting costs.”

Bill thinks that it is very interesting that the majority of those that are continuing to succeed have continued to employ high end earners. This is not just in sales but in every tier of management as well, fewer people with greater incentives to achieve success for them and their employer. “ It is so true, that a company that recognises and rewards its employees accordingly is a successful and profitable one,” he says.

Bill states,”Our business is not simply about putting “bums in chairs” but has evolved like most respected recruitment companies into offering advice and new strategy in order to help a company move forward. This happens, and has done in almost all other industries for years, It is nothing new!

Industry is about manufacturing or buying a product and selling it for profit and this now needs to be done in the most efficient way possible, not that hard is it, when you think it through?”
