‘No more standard window production’

Essex-based WINDOW TECH TRADE has ended production of standard PVCu window and door frames to give its production capacity over entirely to fabricating the Residence Collection.
Managing director Bob Wallis says he made the decision to outsource production of around 400 standard PVCu frames a week in the face of dwindling single-digit net margins and will now focus on The Residence Collection to position his business for the long-term, with the potential of strong double-digit net margins and growth. He said: “I believe the market for standard white windows is limited in terms of financial returns. For us it’s just not a sustainable business model as a manufacturer and so we’re fully focused on doubling our capacity of The Residence Collection to 150 frames per week.
Residence Collection sales and marketing director Sarah Hitchings added: “Window Tech Trade is a perfect example of the mid-sized fabricator looking to get out of the low margin mass market. With our full backing, unique 3 in 1 system and impressive marketing programme, we’re looking forward to seeing them achieve their goal within the next 18 months.”
