Environmental initiative

Gloucester based CDW Systems, supplier of contemporary aluminium doors, windows and framing products, has recently launched an environmental initiative to ensure none of their recyclable cardboard and polythene packaging waste ends up in landfill.

CDW Systems recently bought a CK International twin chamber waste compactor.

CDW’s operations director Colin Urquhart said: “We’ve undergone a comprehensive environmental review of the resources we use, from pollution prevention, waste management and recycling, and introducing a waste compactor for our recyclable waste further strengthens our commitment to improving our efficiencies as a business and also the surrounding environment.

“In addition to the environmental benefits of recycling our waste we’ve also significantly reduced our waste management costs.”

Simon Wells CK International’s national sales manager said: “Due to the nature of the business the industry generates large quantities of easily compactable packaging waste which has a tendency to fill skips with ‘fresh air’. By simply compacting these waste streams you’re guaranteed to reduce your ever increasing skip costs.”
