Tradelink’s Heatguard® Ahead of Demand

Trade fabricator Tradelink as reorganised and refreshed its entire sealed unit manufacturing facility in readiness for the increase in demand for more energy efficient products following the suggested Building Regulations revisions. Jim Moody, Tradelink’s Managing Director explains what changes have been made and why: “As the first fabricator to offer an ‘A’ rated double glazed window we have always been at the forefront of energy efficient products. Our Heatguard® Thermal and Heatguard® Plus sealed units are already high performance and our glazed windows already meet the demands of the suggested revisions, but as part of our Quest Improvement Programme – our own branded World Class Manufacturing philosophy - we have now reorganised our internal systems to make sure the quality and delivery of our units stay ahead of increased demand. We want to be well positioned to help our existing customers remain competitive and support new customers with a future proof product range.

“As anyone running a sealed unit manufacturing business will know, the equipment needed to make IGUs is a lot more sophisticated than that needed for window manufacture. That is why one of the improvements we have made is to further develop our maintenance strategies to ensure the smooth running of the equipment. We have rebuilt the team working in the factory from scratch to simplify the structure of the department and worked hard to ensure our Health and Safety measures will stand up to increased demand. We are already moving to two shifts in our sealed unit division and look forward to supplying more glazed frames in the coming months and certainly into 2013 when the new Regulations come into force.”
