Acquisition saves jobs
Cornwall Glass & Glazing has acquired the assets of Cornish-based Seleda after the company went into administration, saving more than 20 jobs in the process.
The new business, Westcountry Glass, will continue to manufacture sealed glass units and supply them to customers throughout the South West from its Saltash base. Westcountry Glass is equipped with the latest manufacturing equipment, including a Cooltemper toughening furnace and a fully automated unit line with online warm edge technology capabilities.
Mark Mitchell, managing director of Cornwall Glass & Glazing said: “We are delighted to have secured the future of this business and more importantly for the loyal, hardworking and skilled work force that faced a very uncertain future. Westcountry Glass will offer its customers a first class service we will expand the products range available in the near future.”
St Austell based Cornwall Glass & Glazing is a family owned company that operates 13 other sites in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Wiltshire. The company now employs over 130 staff and has recently won awards for it’s commitment to staff training and development.
Gilbert Lemon from the Plymouth office of business rescue, recovery, and restructuring specialists Begbies Traynor said: “ We are delighted that this swift action has secured the jobs of more than 20 employees. We wish Westcountry Glass the best of luck for the future.”
