Bonding five times faster
Thanks to an Bohle’s automated Verifix bonding system, French glass processing company Verrissima has made significant advances in the production of glass door panels, increasing volumes by as much as five-fold.
Bohle has combined the new Verifix bonding table with a Verifix light tunnel for Metz, complete with an interposed transport system. With superb repeat accuracy and precision the Verifix bonding table positions and bonds metal parts as well as decorative elements to flat glass. The system is up to five times faster than the manual bonding process, according to tests performed by Bohle’s head of product development Frank Ruzicka.
Up to six parts can be bonded simultaneously on the glass bonding table with the bonding position of each glass or metal part individually adjustable. Even different types of metal parts such as two hinges and a lock can be mounted in just one operation and any shape and size of glass can be handled. Three-dimensional elements such as smaller glass showcases are also no trouble for the Verifix system.
The consumption of adhesive is minimized in all applications. In the bonding of sandblasted glass door panels this eliminates the risk of adhesive flowing onto sanitised areas, where the adhesive is very difficult or impossible to remove. In fact imprecise and uneven application of adhesive is a thing of the past with a huge increase in process reliability, especially important when bonding glass objects in larger series.
The process has been carefully developed, with precise adhesive application crucial to the process, as Frank Ruzicka explained: "In the process, we take into consideration the smallest possible layer thicknesses required for the various adhesive types to ensure maximum quality and strength. Using UV lamps in a precisely calculated sequence we achieve the highest quality final curing in the shortest possible cycle times."
